Overall, I consider my first experience
with blogger a total success. Who knew that creating a blog can be as easy? It
is true that I did chose the simple layout, and I did not stray away from the
instructions for this assignment, but I am confident that, with little practice
and a little bit of time I could manage other design layouts and explore more
ways to personalize my blog. The instructions on how to find the gadgets and
how to include the links and the RSS feeds were helpful and on point. I did
notice Blogger does offer many tools to customize your blog to your liking, and
I am interested in playing with them and see the results. The entire experience
was pleasant, and I did not encounter any issues or troubleshoot problems while
setting up my blog.
Now that I have the necessary knowledge on how to set up a
blog, I am even more determined to use one in my classroom, as long I will have
the required resources. I think a classroom blog provides students with the
best environment to share knowledge, engage in discussion, communicate openly
with one another. Blogs can be extremely beneficial in the classroom because
they provide with a spot were students could showcase their work, and it is
accessible to everyone (teachers, students, and parents), thus creating
pathways for communication outside of the classroom environment,
The blog itself be a class resource, where I can share
information, and make it accessible beyond my classroom. Since students will
more than likely post continuously, a blog can be a great way to track the
progress of students’ work. In the end, a classroom blog may prove to be a
great tool in creating a community of active learners and critical thinkers.
